COVID 19 - CHANGES TO PUBLIC HEALTH ORDERS FROM 15 May 2020
NNA are waiting on confirmation on how the changes to the public health orders that will start 15 May 2020 will affect the return to play for our sport. At this stage we will still enforce the current directive from Netball NSW that no Netball activity is to be conducted until 29 June 2020. However, Netball NSW released the following statement yesterday:
“In line with this advice from the NSW Office of Sport, Netball NSW are working on revised guidelines for the resumption of netball activity which will be released as soon as possible:
Message from the NSW Office of Sport:
On Sunday 10 May 2020, the NSW Government announced that it will ease the following restrictions Friday 15 May 2020, including:
The Office of Sport has been working closely with government agencies to provide guidelines and principles for sporting organisations to recommence activity in a safe manner, in adherence with the revised Public Health Orders. Now that the nature of these eased restrictions commencing on Friday 15 May 2020 are known, the Office of Sport is finalising this work as a matter of priority. Both Netball NSW and the NSW Office of Sport would like to thank you for your patience as we work through this matter.”
We acknowledge that everyone is excited about the prospect of returning to netball, but to ensure that we get to the point of competitive netball in the near future, we need everyone to be patient and allow Netball NSW to get the relevant information and provide guidance on conducting netball activities safely for all participants and without breaking any applicable laws.
Our Courts therefore are still closed under Council orders and we will provide an update once further advice and direction has been provided by Office of Sport, Netball NSW and Newcastle Council.
